Carat

The weight of a diamond is always given in carats, abbreviated to "ct". 1 carat corresponds to exactly 0.2 grams. The more carats a stone has, the greater its value. However, this does not increase proportionally, but exponentially. In principle, the dimensions of a diamond also increase as the weight goes up, but they vary depending on the cut: A 3.0-carat brilliant-cut diamond, for instance, has a diameter of 9.1 mm, while the 3.0-carat cushion-cut diamond measures 8x8 mm.
